ThermalBuck to Exhibit at Architecture Boston – ABX 2018

BRINC Building Products, Inc. is proud to announce that we will be exhibiting ThermalBuck at this year’s ABX (Architecture Boston) event in Boston, Massachusetts, November 28th-29th. ABX is widely known in the building industry as the largest design and construction event in the Northeast.

Hosted by the Boston Society of Architects (one of the oldest and largest AIA chapters), ABX has been advancing the green building community in the Northeast for over 150 years. The ABX conference is valued for its regional focus – building relationships and a local network in New England, with shared climate, economics, and politics.

This year’s two-day event is expected to draw approximately 8,000 attendees from across the Northeast. It offers over 100 educational sessions, and more than 300 exhibitors covering 50 product categories in the building industry. Features like the Open Architecture Collaborative, CE Learning Zone, and the Design Technology Throwdown provide unique opportunities for collaboration with peer networks.

ThermalBuck – The Continuous Insulation Solution

ThermalBuck has gotten a great response in the Northeast, as builders in New England are more readily using continuous insulation. “ThermalBuck is the product we desperately needed, but didn’t know about. Fortunately it became available and to our attention just in time! We have used it on every project since, even our office renovation,” Alan Benoit, Principal Architect, CPHC, AIA, Sustainable Design of Vermont. ThermalBuck is widely distributed in the Northeast via Boise Cascade, Westfield, MA, (413) 572- 2995. Please contact your local lumberyard for more information.

BRINC Building Products, Inc. Appoints Director of Sales

New Bethlehem, PA – Dan Edelman, a high-performance building material professional with more than two decades of experience, has been appointed by BRINC Building Products, Inc., as Director of Sales, U.S. and Canada.

His most recent position was Northeast Regional Sales Manager for ROCKWOOL North America, the industry leader in exterior and interior mineral wool insulation.

“I have always been fortunate to work with value added products in the building industry, and look forward to maximizing the potential of ThermalBuck.”

 – Dan Edelman, Director of Sales, BRINC Building Products, Inc.

Dan’s expertise is focused on energy-efficient and green-building practices, with an emphasis on moisture management in wall assemblies. His knowledge includes passive house and net-zero energy design principles, having worked on multiple projects in those arenas. Dan is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

Edelman looks forward to taking on the challenge of managing ThermalBuck’s rapid growth in the high-performance building material industry.

ThermalBuck

ThermalBuck falls into an unusual category of the building material market – there’s nothing quite like it.

Use of exterior insulation on residential and commercial buildings is a growing practice in construction, for its ability to limit thermal bridging.

But it creates a new challenge – now that the insulation extends anywhere from 1.0″ to 6.0″ or more past the sheathing, how do you mount the windows?

Before ThermalBuck, the only option for architects and builders to extend the rough opening was to build a wood buck out of 2 x’s or plywood. Rough openings have always been the weakest spot on any building for air and water infiltration, and “bumping” the window out only makes it more difficult to achieve a good air and water seal. Wood bucks are a challenge to flash, and they can rot, shrink, or warp over time.

“Dan offers an impressive background in building science, and a passion for providing solutions to architects and builders. We’re excited to have Dan join our team to manage the growth of ThermalBuck.”

– John Brooks, President, BRINC Building Products, Inc.

“The European and Canadian building markets have long recognized the need to build tighter, well-insulated homes,” said John Brooks, President of BRINC Building Products, Inc.

Driven both by the adoption of newer IECC codes, and an increased focus on energy-efficient building, use of continuous insulation is rapidly growing across the United States, according to Brooks.

“Architects and builders are looking for solutions on how this affects the window installation,” said Brooks, “ThermalBuck is the ideal solution.” And Dan Edelman is the ideal person to manage it’s growth, Brooks said.

“Dan offers an impressive background in building science, and a passion for providing solutions for his customers. We’re excited to have Dan join our team to manage the growth of ThermalBuck.”

Edelman, who lives in Bethlehem, PA, is an avid cyclist, and the father of two boys. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, and his PMP certification from Villanova University. He can be reached at dedelman@brincbp.com, or 484.447.2049.

ThermalBuck at JLC

The 2017 show was our first time at JLC, and it couldn’t have been better. The highlight was when the Journal of Light Construction Senior Editor, Tim Healey, stopped by to shoot a short video to introduce ThermalBuck to readers of JLC who might have missed the show.

“This is one of the coolest new products I’ve seen.”

– Tim Healey, Senior Editor, The Journal of Light Construction, JLC Live 2017

Booth #409 is where you’ll find ThermalBuck at the 2018 show, on the upper level, right in front of the BUILDING ENVELOPE clinics. We’ll be focused on how ThermalBuck solves many of the common challenges wood window bucks create:  the potential for moisture damage, shrinking, warping or rotting – all things that challenge the long term operation of windows. Not to mention wood is a thermal bridge, the very kind you’re trying to eliminate by adding continuous insulation in the first place. You’ll be able to compare the flashing steps for wood bucks vs. ThermalBuck, and see how much easier it is to install and flash.

Workshops & Clinics

Check out the full event program for a complete listing of clinics, and demonstrations that you won’t want to miss. Add to your to-do list “Moisture Management” through proper window installation and flashing, taught by industry veteran Bill Robinson of Train2Build. You’ll want to catch builder Steve DeMetrick too. He’ll be demonstrating new installation requirements for the “Building Envelope”. His clinics on Detailing Exterior Rigid Insulation, Innies and Outies, and The Basics of High Performance Walls, are sure to be some of the best ones at the show.

Performance Haus Inc. to Distribute ThermalBuck Across Canada

Spruce Grove, Alberta, CA — BRINC Building Products, Inc. has recently expanded it’s ThermalBuck distribution into Canada, to meet the growing demand of high performance architects and builders constructing walls with continuous insulation.

“The industry is recognizing exterior insulation as a more effective way to insulate a building. ThermalBuck couldn’t have come at a better time.”

– Jamie Van Gelderen, Performance Haus, Inc.

Canada has long outpaced the US in the adoption of energy efficient building standards. The market for exterior insulation and higher R-value wall assemblies is significant, and builders have been grappling with the challenges of installing windows with exterior insulation.

ThermalBuck – The Continuous Insulation Solution

“Builders have been so receptive to ThermalBuck because it’s such a simple, effective solution to the challenges of installing windows with insulation,” said BRINC President, John Brooks. “From the moment we launched in 2016, ThermalBuck received a great deal of interest from the Canadian market. But we kept putting those inquires on hold, because we just couldn’t keep up with the requests while building the US market.”

Performance Haus – The Right Partner

Meeting James (Jamie) Van Gelderen of Performance Haus, Inc. changed everything.

Jamie impressed us with the personal approach he takes in developing his building material supply company, Performance Haus. His business model is driven by the principles of building science, and outstanding customer service. The commitment to training and installation assistance for Performance Haus customers was exactly what we were looking for in a partnership. A self-described “boots on the ground” entrepreneur, Jamie aims to teach builders to build above building code standards.

“The passion Jamie’s team shares for building science is inspiring. Performance Haus is a driving force in the evolution of energy-efficient building standards across Canada.”

 – John Brooks, President, BRINC Building Products, Inc.

Performance Haus offers a carefully curated product line of high performance building envelope materials, with the best reputations in the business. ThermalBuck is the ideal compliment to their existing high performance building envelope product offerings, which feature:

“One of the Coolest New Products” at JLC LIVE

The Journal of Light Construction Senior Editor Roe Osborn stopped by the ThermalBuck booth at the JLC LIVE show in Providence on day two, and the first thing he said was “I couldn’t even get near you guys yesterday!” Needless to say, we liked him right away.

The editorial team of JLC is passionate about sharing the latest in building material technology and installation techniques, and there is no better show in the Northeast to witness the latest innovations than the annual JLC LIVE show in Providence, RI.

The 2017 show was the biggest to date, keeping JLC LIVE on track as one of the Top 250 Trade Shows in the U.S., with over 7,000 attendees.

JLC chose to feature ThermalBuck in “Seen and Heard at JLC LIVE”, published March 24th at jlconline.com.

“(ThermalBuck) might help solve some of the problems that builders face when adding insulation to the exterior of a home. It’s easy to incorporate into the thermal envelope of a house and thermally breaks the window’s connection.”

– The Journal of Light Construction

Take a look at the complete slideshow of innovative new products, where ThermalBuck shares the stage with products from ZipWall, Snap Power, and Zehnder.

Senior Editor Tim Healey stopped by as well to shoot a short video to introduce ThermalBuck to readers of JLC who might have missed the show.  WATCH:

We couldn’t have enjoyed the show more.  Great builders ready to learn and engage, retailers looking to provide the best in products and services to their customers – and valuable sharing of information and education.  Thank you to The Journal of Light Construction for the recognition of ThermalBuck – we couldn’t be prouder to be named “One of the Coolest New Products” @ JLC LIVE.  If you didn’t get to catch ThermalBuck in person, take a look at our installation examples from the show.
