Risinger & ThermalBuck: A High-Performance Duo

It was just about a year ago when Matt Risinger introduced ThermalBuck to his thousands of YouTube followers. We had recently met Matt in 2016 at the Energy & Environmental Building Alliance (EEBA) Conference in Dallas, TX, and he took home our tabletop displays to show to his loyal building science fans through a short video on Risinger Goes Rogue.

“Check out this brand-new product a builder in Pennsylvania invented – very cool.”

Matt recognized ThermalBuck as a smart, simple solution to the challenges builders face when installing windows with continuous insulation. He also taught us about the importance of using only high-performance products in the building envelope (bye-bye, junky housewrap).

Matt is well-known for his expertise in building science, and his comfortable way of teaching others how to use to become better builders. Now we’re teaming up with Risinger & Co. at their Austin headquarters for a ThermalBuck installation demo – and we’re inviting you to join us.

Risinger & Co.

Matt’s company, Risinger & Co. is a sought-after Austin builder known for beautiful craftsmanship and attention to detail. But they’re also recognized for building some of the highest performing homes in Texas, and utilize a building science based approach to every project.

“Every project we take on includes our goal of delivering a home that provides for improved health, enhanced durability, increased efficiency and greater comfort than any home you’ve lived in before.”

-Matt Risinger, Risinger & Co., The Build Show

After many years of production homebuilding, and continually honing his skills and knowledge, Matt’s  outstanding reputation has led him to now work primarily on architect driven projects, many of them award-winning. Most recently, for their work on a Design Office by Alterstudio Architecture, LLP – awarded a 2017 AIA Austin Design Award.

We appreciate Matt sharing ThermalBuck with his avid followers, and look forward to our demonstration in Austin with Risinger Homes. One thing we can be certain of, is that everyone (including us) will learn a thing, or two.

Risinger Homes (now Risinger & Co.) started building exclusively for architects in 2005. Matt’s building science expertise has been documented in Fine Homebuilding, The Journal of Light Construction, and Custom Home Magazine, to name a few. ThermalBuck Recognized as Energy-Efficient Technology by Window & Door Magazine

ThermalBuck is proud to announce our inclusion in the Oct/Nov 2017 issue of Window & Door Magazine as part of the feature, “Energy Efficient Technology Showcase,” a collection of energy-efficient products for window and door dealers, as well as components for manufacturers.

ThermalBuck is a high-performance window buck that extends and insulates the mounting point for windows & doors to create a flush plane for cladding. Window & Door Magazine first introduced ThermalBuck in it’s “Manufacturing Issue” back in March/April 2016.

The Oct/Nov 2017 piece begins with the results of a monthly reader poll conducted this summer to gain insight on industry trends, and issues that matter to their readers. Specifically, how “green” and sustainable technologies drive their business models.

“More than 70% utilize energy-efficient, sustainable or green technologies, methods or products.”
-Window & Door Magazine, Oct/Nov. 2017

The survey results made it quite clear that it was an extremely important consideration for readers, which was satisfied by the focus on energy-efficient products & components in the Oct/Nov 2017 issue.

Also on the list is Solar Smart Glass by Innovative Glass Corp., a self-tinting “smart glass” that darkens in response to heat from direct sunlight. Solar Smart Glass is available as complete windows, doors, and skylights.

Featured components include E-LON by Amesbury Truth, an innovative door seal, and Super Spacer by Quanex Building Components, a warm-edge spacer that compliments it’s IG operating lines.

We appreciate Window & Door Magazine including us as part of their 2017 “Energy Efficient Technology Showcase.” For a complete listing of the energy efficient products & components with images, take a look at the digital version of the magazine, pages 47-55

Dealer of the Year Awards

The true highlight of the Oct/Nov 2017 issue are the Dealer of the Year Awards, which were recognized at the 2017 Window & Door Dealer Days event held in Atlanta, as part of the GlassBuild America Expo. Five categories were awarded, and also featured in the magazine. The “Excellence in Installation” award, went to Tom Adams Windows and Carpets, Churchville, PA.
